Tuesday 21 May

18.00-19.00: Welcome to a workshop and lecture of Indigenous spaces: Architecture of Aroha together with the group of Architecture of Aroha. Location: Ájtte museum. More info: here.

17.00-onwards: Welcome to the opening of the exhibition The Arctic Hypothesis. Architecture in Transition for the land of tomorrow, curated by Stefano Tornieri and Agatino Rizzo from Luleå University of Technology. Location: Campus Porsön. More info: here.

Thursday 23 May

Luleå

16.00-17.00: Take part in the lecture of Indigenous spaces: Architecture of Aroha by the group of Architecture of Aroha, who offer insights into the wahakura and gietkka. Location: Konsthallen Kulturens hus. More info: here.

Kiruna

16.00-17.00: Vernissage of the installation Andan, a collaborative project between Child Culture Design and three schools in Kiruna. Location: Gruvstadsparken. More info: here.

Friday 24 May

Kiruna

13.00-13.20: Welcome to an introduction about the Luleåbiennalen 2024 and a reflection on the importance of Kiruna for this year’s edition of the biennial, by Maria Ragnestam (Director Konstfrämjandet Norrbotten) and Bruno Alves de Almeida (Artistic Director Luleåbiennalen 2024). Location: Kristallen entrance foyer.

13.20-14.00: You are invited to participate in the activation of Jenny Nordmark's work FOLKMAKT. Location: Kiruna’s new city square. More info: here.

14.00-14.30: Welcome to the installation of Daniel de Paula’s work combustion/production in the public space of Kiruna new city centre. Location: Torggatan. More info: here.

14.30-14.45: Presentation of Wandering Objects and Andan, projects by Child Culture Design in collaboration with classes from three schools in Kiruna. Location: Kiruna’s new city square.

14.45-16.00: Take part in a do-it-yourself workshop together with participants from Wandering Objects. Location: Kiruna’s new city square. More info: here.

Luleå

10.00-11.00: Hikoi/Walk through nature by Gunvor Guttorm and Architecture of Aroha through nature, reflecting on how local materials are incorporated into making practices. Maximum of 15 participants, first come first served. Location: Konsthallen Kulturens hus. More info: here.

11.00-12.00: Kawakawa tea and refreshments together with Architecture of Aroha.

13.30-14.20: Guided tour (in English) of the exhibition at Havremagasinet together with Aude Christel Mgba and Bruno Alves de Almeida, Artistic Directors of Luleåbiennalen 2024. Location: Havremagasinet.

14.00-onwards: Artist Jenny Nordmark is present at her installation SPRÄNGSTEN where you are invited to pick an ore pellet, choose a bag and bring with you as a souvenir. Location: Havremagasinet. More info: here.

14.30-15.20: Conversation (in English) between Mariangela Méndez Prencke (Director of Havremagasinet), Luleåbiennalen Artistic Directors and a Q&A with the audience. Location: Havremagasinet.

13.00-16.30: Tea ceremony (in English) in the Community Art Tent together with Mohamed Sleiman Labat from PhosPHATE. First come first served! Location: City Park. More info: here.

15.00-16.30: Walk through the city centre with the Luleåbiennalen 2024 Artistic Directors to discover the Community Art Tent by PhosFATE, the works by UMA, and Fadlabi's work in Galleri Syster. Location: meeting point at the entrance of Konsthallen Kulturens hus.

16.30-17.00: Welcome to a performative closing of the Luleåbiennalen 2024 with a karakia (blessing) and a waiata (song) by participants of Architecture of Aroha. Location: Konsthallen Kulturens Hus.
