In 2023 artist Fadlabi created colorful artworks from the wind shelters along Luleå ice track. This winter another artist will create new works for the track.
As a part of Luleåbiennalen 2024, artist Fadlabi was invited to create a new artwork for the Ice Track stretching between the southern and northern harbor in Luleå. The result was “Sadaqah Jariyah – On Behalf of Amund Raknerud”, colorful re-imaginings of several wind shelters along the track, and a regional twist on a common Sudanese tradition.
Konstfrämjandet Norrbotten has recently entered into a renwed agreement with Luleå municipality to continue collaborating on the ice track. Thus, another artist will take on the ice track as their exhibition space in the winter of 2025-2026. This time, the artwork will not be presented as part of the biennial but instead through a separate project. During the later part of 2025, the selected artist will work on site in Norrbotten and the results will be installed in conjunction with the inauguration of the ice track this winter.
